Fort Bend ISD (May 15, 2025) – The Travis High School teachers’ lounge received a makeover, thanks to efforts by the school’s PTO, Communications teacher Shawna Moulton and her class, Major Frederick Hunt and the MCJROTC cadets, and financial support from six local neighborhood associations.
“It has been an honor to help lead this special renovation for the teachers’ lounge,” PTO President Shatonna Nelson said. “Our teachers give so much of themselves every single day, and they truly deserve a space that reflects just how valued they are.”
Community member Sharky Khan, secretary of the Waterview Estates HOA and owner of DMHnow.com generously provided handyman services, and Alexis Geissler, president of the Waterview Estates HOA and Travis PTO member coordinated the donations from the community HOAs.
“The teachers’ lounge needed a facelift, and we wanted to gift them a space where they could truly relax and decompress,” Geissler said. “Through the collective efforts of the six communities, we were able to paint the entire room, get new furniture, add a backsplash and upgrade the appliances.”
“The entire Tiger staff is deeply grateful for the incredible support and care our parent volunteers and community members provide our campus,” Principal Sarah Laberge said. “The lounge makeover is absolutely stunning —warm, inviting, and filled with thoughtful personal touches that make it truly special for our staff. And a heartfelt thank you to our MCJROTC and Mrs. Moulton, whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in helping our VIPS bring this vision to life.”
