Fort Bend ISD (January 20, 2023) -- Fort Bend ISD will engage the community in the attendance boundary planning process in the northwest and southeast areas of the district through a virtual public hearing process detailing three boundary scenarios. The virtual public hearing information will be released to the public on Friday, January 20, at 6 p.m. and remain available and open for public input through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 27. The public hearing video link and Thoughtexchange discussion links can be accessed at www.fortbendisd.com/attendanceboundaries beginning Friday, January 20, at 6 p.m.
Please note, the hearings will be posted online and can be viewed at your leisure to provide opportunity and access to the community and will not be conducted in person. Community members who do not have access to technology, i.e. laptop or iPads, can visit one of the campuses listed below at the designated date and time.
All district stakeholders will be provided the opportunity to share feedback online through Thoughtexchange, a discussion management software tool, intended to bring people together to engage in dialogue in an anonymous fashion. The Thoughtexchange platform will open at 6 p.m. on January 20 and close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 27.
Once all feedback has been reviewed, district staff will take into consideration the meaningful public comment before a final proposal is made to the Board of Trustees.
Northwest Planning Process
The northwest planning process will aim to provide relief at Travis High School and Bowie Middle School as these campuses are experiencing high utilization. The information provided will also address minimal boundary adjustments to further align area feeder patterns.
Southeast Planning Process
Planning for the southeast portion of the district will engage the community in the attendance boundary planning process to establish an attendance community for the fall 2023 opening of Almeta Crawford High School; establish an attendance community for the fall 2023 opening of Alyssa Ferguson Elementary; and address boundary adjustments to provide relief at Heritage Rose Elementary for the near term.
Last year, the district implemented a new 8-step boundary change process, as directed by Policy FC (Local). Please visit www.fortbendisd.com/attendanceboundaries to learn more about the process. Watch a video about the attendance boundary process.
