Fort Bend ISD (May 11, 2022) – Fort Bend ISD is expanding its pre-kindergarten program to 35 campuses for the 2022-23 school year and will offer a new tuition-based option for District employees and non-District employees alike.
Children who meet certain eligibility requirements may continue to attend the program for free. All admissions are based on first come, first served.
Children who are eligible to attend the program at no charge must meet one of the following requirements:
Qualify according to the federal income eligibility guidelines/meet income requirements
Come from a family where English is not the primary language
Be a dependent of a member of the U.S. military or a first responder
The tuition-based program will be offered at select campuses throughout the District with a limited number of seats.
Research suggests students who attend early childhood education programs typically develop reading, math and language skills faster and go on to academically outperform students who did not attend early childhood programs for years to come. FBISD’s program has resulted in 91 percent of FBISD pre-K students being prepared for kindergarten-level math and 84 percent of the students excelling in early literacy.
FBISD’s pre-k program offers a unique curriculum that was developed within the District to specifically meet the needs of different types of learners. There are two educators in each classroom and 100 percent of the lead teachers are certified. Multicultural staff also provide opportunities for our Emergent Bilingual students.
