PreK and Kindergarten Registration Now Open

FORT BEND ISD (April 12, 2021) – Registration for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten in Fort Bend ISD for the 2021-22 school year is now open. Families need to begin registering their student online, through the New Student Online Registration website, and complete the enrollment process through their zoned campus.


Prekindergarten Program Eligibility

To be eligible for FBISD’s full-day Prekindergarten program, children must reside within the FBISD boundaries and be four years old on or before September 1, 2021. They must also meet one of the following criteria:


  • Limited English proficient because a language other than English is the primary language spoken in the home. Student qualifying by language will be assessed to determine placement in the program, or
  • Qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Parents must bring current proof of income documentation for all adults in the households (at least one month, or 30 days, of income from the day of registration, including current check stubs, child support statement of payment, or SNAP qualification letter, etc.), or
  • Be homeless, or
  • Have current or previous conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services, or
  • Is the dependent child of an active U.S. Armed Forces member, or the dependent of a U.S. Armed Forces member that has been injured or killed while on active duty, or
  • Is a dependent of a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award.


Kindergarten Program Eligibility

To be eligible for FBISD’s Kindergarten program, children must reside within the FBISD boundaries and be five years old on or before September 1, 2021.


Documentation Needed

To enroll children in both program, families will need to the following documents, in original forms, to complete the enrollment process:


  • Child’s birth certificate or its equivalent
  • Child’s social security card or state-assigned ID number
  • Child’s official immunization record with the physician’s stamp or signature
  • Parent/guardian’s government-issued photo ID that provides their FBISD address, either Texas driver’s license or ID card
  • Proof of residency (deed, lease or mortgage agreement)
  • A current utility bill (gas, water or electric)

Registration Process

Visiting the New Student Online Registration website, families who are new to the District or returning from another school district are asked to complete “Option 1: New Fort Bend ISD Family” of the registration process. Returning FBISD families will need to complete “Option 2: Existing Family Access User” of the registration process.


Qualifying Prekindergarten children will attend their Prekindergarten Program Campus while Kindergarten children will attend their zoned campus based on their home address within the FBISD boundaries, which can be found in the District School Finder.



Secure Email System for Sharing Documents

To protect and maintain the safety of families during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Bend ISD has implemented a secure email system that provides encryption to emails containing sensitive information or documents. Using the District’s secure email system, certain sensitive documents, such a child’s social security card, can be emailed, along with documentation that verifies that age and grade level of that student which must be provided prior to being scheduled into a class. The New Student Online Registration website includes guides on how to send sensitive documents securely via email.
