IMPORTANT: FBISD students return to school for face-to-face and online learning on Thursday, January 7

FORT BEND ISD (January 3, 2021) – Fort Bend ISD will welcome students back to school for face-to-face and online learning on Thursday, January 7, 2021, with staff reporting back Tuesday, January 5.

The FBISD Executive Leadership Team, with the guidance of the medical advisor, have conducted a thorough review of the data and have decided that the District will proceed with back-to-school plans for Term 3 as announced before the Winter Break.

The anticipated arrival of several FDA-authorized vaccines signifies good news in the effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19; however, FBISD will continue to implement district-wide COVID-19 mitigation protocols such as wearing face coverings, hand washing, and social distancing. The FBISD Contact Tracing Team will also continue to monitor positive COVID cases and exposures.

The challenges of 2020 taught us many lessons. We learned new lessons about the importance of compassionate citizenship and servant leadership. We also learned how collaborative teamwork could effectively protect the health of everyone in our FBISD community. And in 2021, we know that we must maintain this partnership to ensure a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff. We ask all students and staff to please continue reporting any symptoms, exposures and positive cases in the daily Wellness Screening. We also ask that everyone continue following all established COVID mitigation protocols such as avoiding large gatherings as these events could directly impact our ability to facilitate face-to-face instruction. Fort Bend ISD will continue to monitor the impact of internal and external data indicators at the district and campus level, and the District will not hesitate to take action if the data indicates that a shift to online learning is necessary.

We look forward to welcoming students back to school. May everyone have a safe and healthy 2021!
