FBISD’s online registration for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten is open for the 2020-2021 school year (5/15/2020)
FORT BEND ISD (May 15, 2020) – Fort Bend ISD families of children entering Prekindergarten (PreK) or Kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year, can complete the online registration process beginning today, May 15. The District is resuming registration after having postponed the process due to its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
PreK Program Eligibility
To be eligible for FBISD’s full-day PreK program, children must be a FBISD resident and four years old on or before September 1, 2020. They must also meet one of the following criteria:
Limited English proficient because a language other than English is the primary language spoken in the home. Students qualifying by language will be tested to determine placement in the program, or
Qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Parents must bring current proof of income/documentation for all adults in the household (at least one month of income/30 days from the day of registration), including current check stubs, child support statement of payment, or SNAP qualification letter, etc.), or
Be homeless, or
Have current or previous conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services, or
Is the dependent child of an active U.S. Armed Forces member, or the dependent of a U.S. Armed Forces member that has been injured or killed while on active duty, or
Is a dependent of a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award. Kindergarten Program Eligibility
To be eligible for FBISD’s Kindergarten program, children must be a FBISD resident and five years old on or before September 1, 2020.
Documentation needed to enroll students
To enroll children in the PreK or Kindergarten program, families will need the following documents to complete the enrollment process (Original documents are required.):
Child’s birth certificate or its equivalent
Child’s social security card or state assigned ID number
Child’s official immunization record with the physician’s stamp or signature
Parent/guardian’s government issued photo ID that provides their FBISD address (Texas driver’s license or ID card)
Proof of residency (deed, lease or mortgage agreement)
Families new to the District or who are returning from another school district are asked to complete “Option 1: New Fort Bend ISD Family” of the registration process. Returning FBISD families will need to complete “Option 2: Existing Family Access User” of the registration process. Visit the New Student Online Registration website for details.
Children will attend PreK at their zoned campus based on their home address within the FBISD boundaries. Check the PreK Feeder Pattern to find your zoned PreK campus. The School Finder can be used to determine your home-zoned campus for PreK or Kindergarten.
Secure Email System for Sharing Documents
To protect and maintain the safety of families during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Bend ISD has implemented a secure email system that provides encryption to emails containing sensitive information or documents. Using the District’s secure email system, certain sensitive documents, such a child’s social security card, can be emailed, along with documentation that verifies the age and grade level of the student which must be provided prior to being scheduled into a class. the New Student Online Registration website includes guides on how to send sensitive documents securely via email.
