Quail Valley GT Academy student receives 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Youth Volunteer award (2/13/2020)
FORT BEND ISD (February 13, 2020) – Charlize Lopez, a Gifted and Talented Academy student at Quail Valley Middle School, has been selected as Texas’ top middle level youth volunteer in the 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. As a state honoree, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., for a series of national recognition events from May 2-5, 2020.
Due to her extensive volunteer hours, Lopez has also qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and country.
During the Washington, D. C. events, 10 National Honorees will be named – five high school students and five middle level students – who will receive additional $5,000 scholarships, gold medallions, crystal trophies for their nominating schools or organizations, and $5,000 grants for the charities of their choice. Lopez is one of the 102 honorees being considered for these additional awards.
