FBISD academy programs to host open house events (10/21/2019)
Eighth grade students and families are encouraged to attend
FORT BEND ISD (October 21, 2019) - FBISD high school academies provide students with focused study and services that help launch them toward careers and college pathways in various highly skilled and competitive areas. The programs are offered through an application process, which includes a combination of academic performance data, test scores and interviews.
FBISD currently offers six high school academy programs:
Digital Media Academy at Hightower High School
Engineering Academy at Elkins High School
Global Studies Academy at Travis High School
International Business and Marketing academy at Travis High School
Math and Science Academy at Dulles High School
Medical Science Academy at Hightower High School
Each academy program will be hosting an Open House to provide students and their families with more details about the programs. To learn more about the FBISD’s high school academy programs, visit the District website at www.fortbendisd.com/academies. The dates are as follows:

Application process for 2020-21 school year
Current FBISD eighth-grade students may apply to attend a high school academy. The application window for the 2020-21 school year is November 1-30, 2019. To apply, students must reside in the FBISD attendance zone at the time of application, and have successfully passed all parts of the seventh-grade STAAR exam. Students grades will also be reviewed as part of the application process.
Students applying to the Digital Media, Global Studies and International Business and Marketing academies will be required to complete an interview or presentation. Students applying to the Engineering, Math and Science and Medical Science academies will take an entrance exam. Notification of the date and time of the interview and/or entrance exam will be sent to the email address provided on the student’s application.
