Double win for Elkins High School Knights during Homecoming 2019 (10/8/2019)
FORT BEND ISD (October 8, 2019) – Elkins High School students experienced a double win during their homecoming game this month. The Knights won the game, 58-0, over Clements High School. They also won the hearts of spectators while spotlighting honorary football captains and cheerleaders.
As a Special Olympics Unified Champion School, Elkins is committed to promoting social inclusion of students with disabilities by involving them in planned activities, such as sporting events, youth leadership opportunities and school-wide activities. The purpose is to help students with disabilities feel welcome and be included in every aspect of the classroom and school environment, while building a socially inclusive school that supports and engages all learners.
During the Elkins homecoming game, the honorary captains rushed the field with the players at the start of the game and took part in the coin toss. The honorary cheerleaders joined the squad in spirit-filled routines.
