Elkins High School's Air Force JROTC Unit TX-932 receives 2018-2019 Distinguished Unit Award (5/22/2019)
FORT BEND ISD (May 22, 2019) – Air Force Unit TX-932 at Elkins High School has been selected as one of 376 units in the U.S. to receive the 2018-2019 Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit Award. The award recognizes Air Force JROTC units that have performed well above and beyond normal expectations and have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting Air Force JROTC citizen development mission for America.
The objectives of the Air Force JROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; instill responsibility, character and self-discipline though character education; and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.
Air Force JROTC is located in nearly 900 U.S. high schools and at selected schools in Europe, the Pacific and Puerto Rico. Enrollment is open to high school students in grades 9-12 and can be applied as a physical education or elective credit. Program enrollment includes more than 120,000 cadets who complete more than 1.6 million hours of community service each year.
