FBISD students chosen for H-E-B award (5/22/19)

Students nominated, chosen for standing against bullying

FORT BEND ISD (May 21, 2019) – Three elementary students in Fort Bend ISD have been named Student Advocates by H-E-B for the 2018-19 school year. The students – Melanie German from Heritage Rose, Danielle Bou from Armstrong, and Amelia Buhanan from Austin Parkway – were each nominated by a teacher on their campus and were chosen among the students from the greater Houston area. Student Advocates each received a backpack, t-shirt, medal, cape and certificate in honor of their achievement.

Each student was said to be a servant leader, leading by example and modeling behaviors for other students, and to be inclusive of every student. Said of one student, “If everyone in the school (or world, for that matter) would act toward others the way she does, it would be a much nicer place to live.”

The H-E-Buddy Student Advocate program is presented to elementary students at the start of each school year, where students are reminded to treat others as they would like to be treated and to create classrooms where all students are welcome.
