Marshall High School earns fourth track state title in five years (5/13/19)
FBISD students pick up several individual awards
FORT BEND ISD (May 13, 2019) – Marshall High School’s track team continued its dynasty as the state champion in the 2019 UIL Track & Field State Meet, held this past weekend at The University of Texas at Austin.
The team earned first place overall in the 5A Boys competition, after earning 1st place in all three relay events – the 4x100, the 4x200 and the 4x400. Several students also picked up individual medals, including 1st place wins for Devon Achane in the 200 and Matthias Petterway in the 300 hurdles. Another Buff, Bryson Stubblefield, earned 3rd place in the 100.
The 4x200 relay team – Bryson Stubblefield, Korey King, Dalevon Campbell and Devon Achane – set a new 5A record of 1:23.38.
The Lady Buffs earned 2nd place overall at the 5A Girls competition, earning 1st place in the 4x400 relay and 2nd place in the 4x200 relay. Cesley Williams picked up 2nd place in the 400.
The Hightower Lady Canes tied 7th overall in the 5A competition, and the Bush Lady Broncos made it to 4th overall in the 6A competition, after earning 3rd place in the 4x200 relay. BHS student Laila Owens picked up a 1st place in the 200 and THS student Victoria Mathiew earned 3rd place in the 300 hurdles.
