2019-2020 Course Selection is open and closes on Feb. 22 (1/31/2019)

Course selection/4 year planning for the 2019-2020 school year for current sixth (6th) to eleventh (11th) grade students is open and closes on February 22, 2019.

Beginning in eighth (8th) grade, students will build and/or update their four-year high school plan in Skyward. Once complete, the courses in their plans will then serve as course requests for the upcoming school year. For a sneak peek on what this process looks like, check out this short video.

In order to make this process as seamless as possible, counselors will be setting up labs at your child’s school so they can work directly with your child in completing the 4 year planning/course selection process. If your child does not complete the task during these labs, they can do it at home. (Online resources are also available for you and your child on the Teaching and Learning webpage with step-by-step instructions). Once your child completes their plan, parents will be required to e-sign their approval in Family Access.

Why 4 year planning?

Careful planning is important to ensure that all requirements are met so that students may graduate on time. Four-year plans allow students to personalize their high school experience and incorporate classes that help prepare them for futures beyond what they can imagine. This method also allows students and parents to review their courses each year to ensure students are on track to earn their endorsement and graduate from high school. Planning also helps students take full advantage of courses and pathways that are available at their school, and it becomes more meaningful when directly tied to the course requests.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s school counselor.
