Fort Bend ISD (January 9, 2019) – Fort Bend ISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department will host a program information event, where students and their families can learn about the District’s many CTE program offerings at the new James Reese Career and Technical Center. The event will take place January 15, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Hilton Garden Inn (722 Bonaventure Way, Sugar Land, TX 77479).
CTE programs offer students a competitive advantage in preparing for their future, whether their plans include college, immediate entry into the workforce, or a combination of both.
“Our students have the opportunity to build their resume and college application portfolio through real-world experiences. By attending the Reese Center, students will collaborate with business partners and industry leaders as they work toward earning industry certifications accessing industry standard equipment. They will have access to internship and apprenticeship programs,” said CTE Director Meredith Watassek.
The event is open to all FBISD students and their parents, especially current 9th – 11th grade students who are interested in learning more about the CTE programs offered at the new James Reese Career and Technical Center that will open Fall 2019.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the District’s new state-of-the-art CTE center and visit with CTE teachers and students about programs such as Health Science, Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism, Cyber Security, Firefighting, Welding, and many more. The come-and-go format will allow attendees to focus on the programs of their choice. Short presentations about the Reese Center application and general information will be held at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30. Parents and students will also have the opportunity to visit with Reese Center campus leaders, Mrs. Kelley Kirila, Instructional Officer; Mr. Kenny Kendziora, Instructional Supervisor; and Dr. Denisa Valenzuela, CTE Counselor.
The Reese Center will open in Fall 2019 and will offer specialized courses available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
