Garcia Middle School students and staff break donation record during annual food drive (12/3/2018)

FORT BEND ISD (December 3, 2018) – Each year, the students and staff at Garcia Middle School collect food for the Dr. Tony Hoyt Memorial Food Drive. The food drive was created in honor of Dr. Tony Hoyt, one of the founders of the Male Mentor Club who passed away a few years ago. The drive was a project he spearheaded.

Every year the school sets a donation goal. This year’s goal was 6,500 pounds, which they initially thought was steep, but the GMS Gators proved themselves. By the end of November, the Gators had collected 7,114 pounds, and they are still collecting goods throughout the month of December.

The GMS school community is showing what it truly means to be servant leaders and compassionate citizens. Way to go, Gators!
