Neill Elementary’s Rockin’ Longhorns shine during Herd Day (11/6/2018)

FORT BEND ISD (November 6, 2018) – The Neill Elementary Longhorns gathered Friday, November 2, for their second Herd Day of the school year. During the school-wide pep rally, the Longhorns broke into their smaller teams, separated by colors and parts of the P.R.I.D.E. acronym: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence.

But this was no typical Herd Day for Neill Elementary, thanks to music teacher Staci Waites and Christina Wells, a 2018 finalist from America’s Got Talent. Wells spoke to the students about her journey and how she had to use all of the elements of P.R.I.D.E. to find success. She encouraged the young Longhorns to never give up as they pursue their dreams as well.

As a final treat, members of the Rockin’ Longhorns Music Club performed with Christina. See a bit of their performance on Twitter.

The Rockin’ Longhorns will perform at the annual meeting of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) in February 2019 in San Antonio. They will be the first campus-based elementary music program to perform at the premier state conference.
