Shaughn Thomas, FBISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year, receives further accolades (11/6/2018)
FORT BEND ISD (November 6, 2018) – Shaughn Thomas, the 2018 District Secondary Teacher of the Year, has been named the winner of the Mary McLeod Bethune Teacher of the Year Award, by the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). The award is given to teachers whose innovative teaching techniques have led to higher student achievement and a commitment to enhancing the quality of instruction in the classroom. The award is given at the organization’s annual meeting, this year held in Baltimore, Maryland.
This past weekend, Thomas was also given the Extra Yard For Teachers, sponsored by the College Football Playoff Foundation, during the Rice University Homecoming Game. He, along with other Houston-area educators, were recognized during the game for their work in Houston classrooms.
