Eighty-seven (87) Fort Bend ISD students receive 2017 Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Scholarships (3-9-2017)

FORT BEND ISD (March 9, 2017) – Fort Bend ISD congratulates the eighty-seven (87) juniors and seniors, representing all 11 FBISD high schools, who received 2017 Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) scholarships, presented by The George Foundation. The students received scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Combined, FBISD students received more than $123,000 in YIP scholarships.

Each of the scholarship recipients participated in the eight-month YIP program, where they completed volunteer service with some of our community’s nonprofit organizations. At the end of the program, the students were asked to assess the nonprofit organization which they served and award George Foundation grant dollars to the organization based on their experience and the organization's impact on the community. In return for their service to the organizations, many of the outstanding YIP participants received scholarships to support their careers in higher education.
