Fort Bend ISD approves construction contracts for two additional schools

District’s 15^th middle school and 48^th elementary school to be built in Sienna Plantation

Fort Bend ISD – The construction of Fort Bend ISD’s 48^th elementary school and 15^th middle school will soon begin in the southeast area of the fast-growing District. During a board workshop and called meeting June 6, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved construction service agreements for both schools, which will be located in the Sienna Plantation community.

Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, Inc. will oversee construction of both campuses. Elementary School 48 is a two-story elementary school and will be 123,079 square feet. The construction costs of $25,559,000 will be funded through the 2014 Bond Program, and the District plans to open the school for the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

Middle School 15, part of the 2007 Bond Program, will be 228,566 square feet and will cost $47,550.000. Construction of the school is planned to begin within the next few months, and the District plans to open the school for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

The schools share a 47-acre site. During the June 6 board meeting, the FBISD administration announced Sienna developers recently agreed to construct traffic improvements in the area of Waters Lake Boulevard and Sienna Parkway.

“The safety of our students, staff members and families is always the District’s primary concern, and we appreciate Sienna’s partnership in addressing concerns brought up in the planning process,” said Dr. Charles Dupre, the FBISD Superintendent of Schools.

“By agreeing to expedite the construction of millions of dollars in road improvements and improving accessibility in the area, the developers are demonstrating they share a commitment to our community. We are looking forward to the completion of these two schools, fulfilling promises made to our taxpayers.”
