RPHS Student Parking Q&A
· My 10th grader has a valid driver's license. Can they apply for a parking permit?
o Because of the limited number of parking spaces and the large number of seniors and juniors. Parking is not offered to sophomores currently. (No refunds if parking is purchased)
· How is parking assigned?
o Parking is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking spots are not guaranteed, just because you are a Senior or Junior.
· My student has a permit license; can they apply for a parking permit?
o All students in grades 11–12 must have a valid driver's license (no permit – the letter B under restrictions) to apply for an RPHS parking permit.
· FBISD bus service is not offered for our home address. Are there any exceptions for my student to receive a parking permit?
o Being out of the bus zone does not guarantee or qualify a student to receive a parking permit, because of the limited student parking, there is no exception for being out of the bus zone.
· Can I use my school email address to apply for a parking permit?
o Student/Parent must use a personal email address (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) to apply for a parking permit. During the summer, FBISD performs updates and maintenance on school emails, which can be inoperable and can cause you to miss communication from RPHS Parking.
· I plan to travel for the summer and won’t have access to my email; will I still be able to purchase a parking permit upon my return.
o If you plan to travel this summer and you are applying for a parking permit, make sure you can still access your personal email account, so you don’t miss your opportunity to purchase your parking tag. You will have 24-48 hours after receiving the approval email to purchase your parking permit.
· What if my application is denied?
o If your application is denied, you will receive an email within 24-48 hours (1-2 days).
o Denied applications will not be reconsidered until all other applications have been processed.
· How will I know if my application is approved?
o If your application is approved, you will receive an email in 72 hours (3 days) with the next steps.
· Can I paint my parking spot, and what type of paint should I use?
o Only Seniors with premier parking are permitted to paint their parking spots.
Water-based paint must be used. Please email Mr. Jerrold Smith with the image you plan to paint and a picture of the paint label showing water-based paint.
****Important****
Any parking spots painted that are not premier (1-11 student parking lot only) or purchased by a senior and painted with a non-water-based paint will incur a fine and the expense to have the paint removed.
Stay informed, act quickly, and best wishes with your application!
