AVID recruitment for current 6th graders moving into 7th grade and 7th graders moving into 8th grade is in full swing! AVID presentations were given to all 6th grade Discovery classes January 17th and many students took a paper application. Please make sure your child finishes the application to the best of their ability, and turns it in by February 28, 2020. What is AVID?
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an elective for 7th and 8th grade students.
AVID is a college prep program, and a direct support system for student who have the desire to attend college. AVID is for students who want to do better academically, overcome challenges, want support to achieve their dreams of attending the university of their choice.

– How to set and monitor goals
– Pre-AP Class Strategies
• Student-Led Tutorials
• College Vocabulary/Research
• Leadership Opportunities and Field Trips
Since AVID is a college prep class, students who are accepted into the elective must take at least one Pre-AP class. Please note, there is an application process. Every student who applies gets an interview.
