Engineering Student Wins National 3D Design Challenge

Fort Bend ISD CTE Engineering Student Wins National 3D Design Challenge
SUGAR LAND, Texas (April 10, 2025) — Jimmy Muhammad, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) engineering student at Kempner High School in Fort Bend Independent School District, has been named the high school winner of the 2025 AEOP Veterans Appreciation Challenge. This national competition, organized by the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) in partnership with Future Engineers, invites students in grades 4 through 12 to design wearable 3D-printed pins that honor U.S. military veterans.
Muhammad's winning design, titled "Veterans Pin," features a central star symbolizing bravery and valor, encircled by a ring with the inscription "honoring those who served," representing strength and patriotism. He describes the design as resembling a veteran’s medallion, with the surrounding ring acting as a protective scarf for the star.
As part of his award, Muhammad will receive a fully funded trip to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio, to attend a special Memorial Day event. Additionally, a high-tech 3D printer will be donated to a U.S. school, library, or organization of his choice.
The AEOP Veterans Appreciation Challenge aims to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through creative design while fostering a spirit of gratitude toward veterans. Top designs are professionally printed and distributed to veterans at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.
