An Update from Dr. Smith, December 18, 2025

Hello FBISD Community,
As we approach the end of the semester, I want to share highlights from our recent Board meeting and the ways we are preparing students for success, both now and in the future.

Preparing Students for Future Success Through CTE
At Monday's Board meeting, district leaders shared an update on Career and Technical Education (CTE). Program enrollment continues to grow in grades 7–12, with more middle school students exploring career pathways.
Also presented were the new initiatives that include JROTC as a CTE program of study, the launch of an Aviation Maintenance pathway at Kempner High School, expanded computer science and Technovation courses, and strengthened industry partnerships.

Long-Range Boundary Planning Updates
As part of Fort Bend ISD's Long-Range Boundary Planning process and the commitment to transparency, draft attendance boundary plans were shared. These included potential closures/consolidations for seven elementary schools, district-wide elementary boundary adjustments, and an attendance boundary for the opening of Amy Coleman Middle School.
PASA, the district's demographer, shared information about student enrollment projections across the state and in FBISD, PBK Architects provided updated information about the facility conditions at each campus, and Zonda, the district's boundary planner, outlined the planning process and draft boundary plans.
No final decisions have been made. The community will have an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed boundary scenarios in January. For more information on Long-Range Boundary Planning, visit fortbendisd.com/attendanceboundaries.

Board Policy Update: School Board Elections
The Board of Trustees approved a revision to policy BBB (Local), moving school board elections from May to November, beginning with the November 2026 election.
Moving the elections to the general election date is expected to increaser community participation, providing more opportunities for residents to have their voices heard in selecting their trustees.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to provide excellent educational opportunities and plan for the future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Smith
Superintendent, Fort Bend ISD
