An Update from Dr. Smith, February 28, 2025
Fort Bend ISD is planning for the future — and keeping you informed every step of the way!
At a public meeting on February 26, 2025, community members came out to Almeta Crawford High School to hear about options for attendance boundaries for the August 2025 opening of Ferndell Henry Elementary School.

Boundary Options for Ferndell Henry Elementary
The district is in the process of implementing a boundary change for the Ferndell Henry Elementary campus located on FM 521 in Rosharon. The boundary change also addresses overcrowding at nearby Heritage Rose Elementary which currently has 1,400 students.
During the public meeting at Almeta Crawford High School, a representative from Zonda, the district’s boundary planner, presented a proposed boundary option to the audience of about 60 community members and staff.
The option calls for FBISD students who reside in the green area shown on the map of the Heritage Rose boundary to remain at the school.
To alleviate overcrowding at Heritage Rose, the option calls for students who reside in the area on the map shown in brown to be zoned to Ferndell Henry Elementary School.
FBISD community members are invited to share feedback about the proposed attendance boundary change by participating in an online survey that is open now until 11:59 p.m. March 5, 2025.
Here is the link to the survey.
Also, to further keep you informed, a video of the Feb. 26 public meeting is posted on the Fort Bend ISD Boundary Planning and Enrollment Management webpage.

Cap and Overflow at Neill Elementary
FBISD has also seen growth on its northwest side. To ensure a quality learning environment for all students, the district is implementing “cap and overflow” for new enrollees at Neill Elementary beginning March 17, 2025.
Since nearby Pecan Grove Elementary has the facility capacity to support growth, it will serve as the cap and overflow campus to relieve over-utilization at Neill Elementary.
Cap and overflow will take effect for all new enrollees in kindergarten through fifth grade for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.
Please use this link to see a comprehensive list of FAQs about cap and overflow at Neill Elementary.
We thank you for your time and attention as we continue to make every effort to communicate in a clear, concise and transparent way with the FBISD community.
