FBISD Community Partner David Sincere, Jr. receives 2018 Heroes for Children Award (9/21/2018)
FORT BEND ISD (September 21, 2018) – Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce that the State Board of Education (SBOE) has honored David Sincere, Jr., an FBISD community partner, with a 2018 Heroes for Children Award. Sincere is one of 15 honorees who have collectively donated 223 years of service to Texas public schools.
Each year, the SBOE selects one outstanding school volunteer from each board district to be recognized. Sincere represents SBOE District 7, which includes includes Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, and Orange, Sabine, San Augustine and Tyler counties.
Pastor Sincere has volunteered for 20 years in various Fort Bend ISD schools. When he was a child and his family faced adversity, members of a neighboring church came to the family’s aid. The church members provided groceries and a birthday cake for him. These acts of kindness sparked his own commitment to volunteering. Sincere has mentored students, sponsored campus clubs, hosted community forums, served in the District’s Board Leadership Academy, facilitated Trauma Informed Care training and created a nonprofit called Advocacy Now Institute to inspire others to give back.
“Pastor Sincere is a valued community partner who is helping to make a positive difference in the lives of so many FBISD students,” said Dr. Anthony Indelicato, FBISD Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement. “His commitment and genuine concern for children is apparent in all that he does, whether behind the scenes or on the front line, and we couldn’t be more proud to partner with him.”
Sincere was honored with a plaque and resolution from the State Board of Education District 7 during an awards ceremony in Austin. His name will also be engraved on a plaque that is permanently displayed at the Texas Education Agency. The SBOE has now recognized 450 Texans with this award since the program’s creation in 1994.
