It is an honor to be teaching at Anne Sullivan Elementary School! This is my tenth year as an educator in Fort Bend ISD. I have taught second grade self-contained for the past 7 years. Before teaching 2nd grade, I taught third, and fourth grade math and science. I love making a positive impact in students' lives and teaching them to take charge of their learning! I am FBISD GT trained and ESL certified, and I strive to meet the needs of all learners.
I was born in Houston, Texas. I grew up in Sugar Land, and Missouri City. I attended Fort Bend ISD schools, and I am a graduate of Elkins High School. Blue and Gold! Go Knights! I attended The University of Houston - Downtown and obtained a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the Department of Urban Education.
In my spare time I help my husband Jacob run his concrete demolition and pouring company. Working with him has allowed me to see amazing feats of engineering. I have had opportunities to see some of the oldest buildings and parks in the City of Houston during remodels, as well as some of the new innovative construction. I have learned to read blueprints and like to show them to my students and use them for lessons.
We have a six year old daughter named Ludmila, and we have a three year old daughter named Eva Theresa. They keep us busy and bring us so much joy. They love to explore nature as they collect things to make nature art. Eva loves to dance and sing while Ludmila loves to craft and build. We like to get dressed up and be fancy or silly. We live in the countryside, but we try to find time to attend functions at various parks and museums in the city with our family.
I enjoy going to musicals, ballets, and plays. I also like many types of art and crafting. From a young age I took art lessons and I have tried many types of crafting and art. I'm currently working on a needlepoint of art nouveau piece by Alphonse Mucha because I studied some of the style over the summer.
I enjoy bringing things I have learned from my life and adventures to extend the learning in my classroom. This year will be innovative, and I feel that I am taking part in an extraordinary moment in history. We will thrive as we learn and work together.
