I am so excited about teaching my favorite subjects math and science!!! I hope to inspire our future scientists and mathematicians to love learning as much as I do.
I was born and raised in Houston. My mom is from Japan. I attended the University of Houston. Upon graduation in 1977, I went straight to the classroom to teach and have not stopped! I love teaching!!! I've taught first, second, third, fourth and now fifth grade. People ask me which grade I like best, and I have to say that I have loved every grade that I've taught!
I've been married to my wonderful and supportive husband since 1984. We have a son and daughter that have left the nest!
My greatest accomplishment to the teaching profession is training new teachers. I have had several student teachers and have mentored several new teachers. New teachers are so enthusiastic about teaching and it inspires me to do more. It is a two-way street; they learn from me while I learn new things from them. I love technology! It is fascinating to see how comfortable this generation of kids is with computers and software.
People ask me which grade I like best, and I always say that I’ve loved every grade that I have taught at the time. Over the course of forty years, I have seen a lot of new ideas in education come and go. I absolutely love fifth grade! The students are a delight to interact with daily!
