My name is Felicia Slayton and I am very thrilled to be teaching first grade at Colony Bend this school year. I have also taught second grade, Pre-Kindergarten ESL, and third grade before. First grade is my favorite grade.
I have been married for six years to a wonderful man. My husband and I having been living in our new home in Richmond, Texas for almost two years. We do not have any children, but we have a brindled-colored Cane Corso named Najee. We have had the privilege to live in San Francisco, California and Austin, Texas before. I come from a large family of six sisters and one brother. My mom and two of my sisters are educators, so teaching is a big part of me.
My educational background is a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, majoring in Elementary Education. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown with Honors, and I also attended Lone Star College. I am certified in Texas to teach Early Childhood- 4th grade as well as ESL.
I am excited about teaching your child and all the wonderful things that I have planned this year. I believe that first grade is a crucial year for students. Because first grade is the foundation for learning, I have high expectations for success. Primarily, success begins with the student. Each day the students will learn effective lessons that will allow him or her to be the best student in FBISD.
