My name is Kimberly Guzmán and I am one of the music teachers at Oyster Creek Elementary! I began teaching in FBISD in 2013, and won the title of rookie teacher of the year that year. I am a proud graduate of Fort Bend ISD from Dulles High School and Sam Houston State University! (Eat em up Kats!) I am blessed and highly favored to say what a joy it is to have my dream job working as a music teacher! I absolutely LOVE working with your children and teaching. I have an extensive musical background and thoroughly enjoy sharing my love of music with my students.
I know this year of 2020-2021 is bringing a lot of uncertainty with the pandemic and virtual learning. I am so proud to be a part of Fort Bend ISD and all they have to offer. They have trained us to be ready for this school year and to be there for our students and our own families. Face to face instruction is my most ideal situation, but seeing all of my students' shiny faces online also brightens my heart. I hope to be a light and an encourager to your child, as well as your family, as your music teacher during this time.
In the six years students are at OCE they will learn how to create, read, write, sing, dance, perform, play an instrument(s), learn about music literature, composers and much more. In my classroom we have a lot of fun learning all the elements of music and enjoy playing together. I am honored to teach them the tools they need and watch them blossom on their own. I cannot express in words how fulfilling my job is and how much I enjoy teaching. Thank you for trusting me with your children to enrich their lives with music!
Every grade level will have a chance to perform. I will post these dates on my calendar and will be in communication with you as well. I will keep you updated as new things for our music program arise.
I am excited and looking forward to what this school year brings!
