Mrs. Cynthia Byrd

I have 20+ years of teaching experience, and most of those years have been spent teaching English Language Arts to students at the secondary level. I have also had the great opportunity to be a Head Coach for 2 sports while at DHS - Tennis (Boys and Girls) and Girls Soccer.  I coached The Dulles Tennis Team to their first District Championship in many years during the Fall Team-Tennis Season of 2009 and took an individual tennis player to the State Tournament in the spring of 2010 where she advanced to 3rd place.  Also, in the spring of 2011, I took a Mixed Doubles Team to the State Tournament. While Head Girls Soccer Coach, our Dulles Girls Soccer team advanced to the Region Playoff Tournament in the Spring of 2014.  At Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas I loved reading and studying literature.  I was Co-Captain of the tennis team with my sister and an officer in the Bisonette's Drill Team.  At the University of Texas at Austin, I majored in business and received a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree (BBA) with a double major in marketing and management. I worked in the banking and business world for over 10 years before deciding to return to college to study English education.  I am certified to teach secondary English, reading, ESL, and special education students.  One of my teaching goals is to inspire young people to love reading as much as I do.  My teachers helped me have a better life because they shared their passions for learning.  I want to do the same for my students.
