There are many reasons I love teaching as a career but the main one is getting to work with your children. Every day brings new and exciting opportunities for growth as a learning community. I consider it a privilege to be part of such a dedicated team here at Scanlan Oaks and am proud to be a charter faculty member here. I have been teaching in Fort Bend ISD since the 2000-2001 school year.
I grew up in a Navy family, living in several places before we settled in San Diego. (Go Padres!) After earning a degree from the University of San Diego, I went through a couple of job moves before waking up and realizing that being a teacher was the right career for me. My wife, Jenny, has been by my side since 1986 and we have two terrific sons, John and Kevin. Both are products of Fort Bend ISD, and both graduated from the University of North Texas. John graduated from Elkins High School in 2009 and the University of North Texas in 2013. Kevin graduated from Ridge Point High School in 2015, and is a proud 2019 graduate of UNT.
During my time off I try to stay fit by exercising and lifting weights. Then there are movie nights with Jenny, hanging out with the boys when they are in town and listening to music.
