My name is Shaunita Gilbert and I am SUPER excited to be a Kindergarten at James Patterson Elementary School. I am currently in year 21 of teaching. Priot to coming to Patterson, I taught 2 years outside the district, 14 years at Glover, and 4 years at Townewest Elementary. I am currently certified as an EC-4 Generalist and I hold certification in EC-4 ESL and PK-12 Principalship for the state of Texas. I also a School Counseling practitioner in training.  I am slated to graduate with this certification from Prairie View A&M University in May 2024.
 
Prior to becoming a certified teacher, I received dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Political Science from Prairie View A&M University. I also went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from Prairie View A&M University, as well as a master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria.
 
I truly look forward to teaching and educating the students of Patterson Elementary School. I am eager to see how much growth my students will make from now to the end of the school year. To help my students experience growth, I am committed to working hard to achieve success by putting and keeping the needs of kids first while teaching Kindergarten at JPE. My overall goal for the 2023-2024 school year is to inspire, motivate, and foster a positive learning environment for all students on a daily basis. I am also dedicated to adhering to this goal because I want to equip my students with the educational tools they need to be successful now and in the future!
