Mr. Durán has a diverse background in the fields of Education and Information Technology, with a focus on English Language Arts, ESL/ESOL, Social Studies, Special Education, Campus Leadership, and Instructional Technology. Prior to entering the education field, he was an IT professional in the Houston area for major companies such as Enron and Oracle.
During Mr. Durán's 16 years of experience in public and private Education, he has served as a teacher, a campus administrator, and a department head. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake, and earned his Master of Education degree from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Durán has also studied the Spanish language abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico on 4 occasions from 2007 to 2012. Prior to moving to Fort Bend ISD, he served as an educator in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Houston ISD, and the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Mr. Durán is bilingual in English and Spanish, and prioritizes parent/teacher partnerships. His philosophy is that every child has the ability to learn, regardless of ability level or circumstance, and that learning should be a fun and engaging experience for students.
