I should start out by mentioning that I have been lucky enough to have found a career that I am passionate about. I strongly believe that, as teachers, we mold the minds, influence the actions, and guide choices to ensure success for our students. Nothing gives me more pleasure then hearing about the successes of my past students. My personal goal is to try to instill the passion that drives life-long learning to all my students.
While I have taught all the grade levels, I particularly enjoy teaching 6th and 8th grade content the most because it includes Astronomy, Chemistry, and Earth Science. STEM is such an integral part of our future, I would like to incorporate it in class as much as possible in Science. I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Robotics and Engineering Program here at JBMS. My hope is to inspire and encourage students to develop skills such as problem solving, creating, coding, teamwork, and thinking outside of the box so they can become our future. I am of the Growth Mindset Model as I aspire to constantly learn so that I can inspire my students to become life long learners.
While I was born and raised in Houston, I am a proud AGGIE as is my husband. We have two beautiful identical twin boys born in September of 2013. They are a handful, but they are the center of my universe and I love them dearly. From the time your children enter my classroom to the time they graduate, I consider and treat your children as my own. Besides enhancing their academic skills, I am also hoping to build lasting relationships that willl encourage development of the whole student: Socially, Emotionally, and Physically.
Two of my greatest passions (besides teaching) is traveling and scuba diving. While I have traveled quite significantly, I have only been to Europe once to see Paris. I look forward to more trips in the distant future. Other hobbies I enjoy are shopping, home improvement, reading, relaxing with friends and family, watersports of any kind, martial arts, scrapbooking, taking my boys on new adventures, and watching movies.
