¡Hola! I am Zinnia Rivera, also known as “Señora Rivera.” I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in Spanish from the University of Puerto Rico, a Primary Montessori Certification from the Northeast Montessori Institute in Boston, and a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Spain. I am Gifted and Talented certified. I have experience teaching primary students, high school students, as well as adults, but I enjoy teaching middle school students most.
I have lived in Connecticut and New York. I am very happy to be back in Texas where my parents and siblings live. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going out to eat, watching foreign movies, and spending time with my daughters. In 2004, I was honored by being selected “Teacher of the Year” for Lake Olympia Middle School. I have been with FBISD for 19 years, and this is my 12 year at BMS. Teaching is my passion! I wish all my students a successful and productive school year. ¡Viva el Español!
