I have been privileged to be the Choir Director at Baines Middle School since the school opened in 2006. I currently teach all levels of Choir at Baines and coordinate with the Theatre Dept to produce the BMS Annual Musical. The Baines Choirs perform multiple concerts throughout the year at school as well as in the community and compete in all UIL Competitions. The Baines MS Varsity Treble Choir, Junior Varsity Treble Choir, and Men's Ensemble annually place high percentages of students in the All-Region Honor Choir, earn all superior and excellent ratings at Solo and Ensemble Contest and consistently earn the highest "Sweepstakes" and First Division Awards at UIL Concert and Sightreading Competition.
My teaching career began in 1985 after I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. I have also taken graduate courses from the University of North Texas and the University of Houston. In 2005, I obtained a Certification in Speech Communications. My professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA) and the Texas Choral Director's Association (TCDA).
I have taught all ages in my teaching career, from pre-school to college, in both public and private schools and studios. My musical training covers a concentration in piano, voice and flute within a wide range of the fine arts including choir, band, theatre arts, and church music.
I am married to Russ Clark, singer, voice teacher, and retired choir director from Elkins HS. Together, we have two wonderful children: Kathleen, a graduate of the University of North Texas and Ethan, a current student at the University of Houston.
