Hello, and welcome to Theatre. I am Kristin McNeely and I will be your child's teacher this year at Baines Middle School. Besides being a longhorn here at Baines, I am also a die-hard longhorn from my alma mater The University of Texas at Austin, where I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech Communications. In addition to being named not only Baines Middle School's Rookie Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013, I was also named FBISD's Rookie Teacher of the Year and in 2015-2016 was named Baines Middle School's Teacher of the Year. Before I began teaching at BMS, I had the pleasure to teach as a substitute for four years at many of the other great schools in Sienna. The 2019-2020 school year will be my eighth year at BMS and I am excited to begin another year here in the fine arts. My work experience has not only been in teaching but also in sports and advertising, as well as theatre and film. Teaching has been something I have always wanted to do. I believe that not only should teachers teach the educational aspect of their subject, but also include teaching life lessons. I come from a family of educators that continue to teach life lessons to students, even in their 70’s, which leaves me with big shoes to fill. My favorite aspect of teaching is watching each child perform, act and entertain each day in class. Having the opportunity to have some students for all three years of their middle school careers is wonderful. You see so much growth and maturity in those years. My goal for all of my students is for them to become competent communicators and entertaining performers. Some people question my will to want to teach middle school children, teenagers are really goofy sometimes, but I remember my wonderful teachers and those who helped to influence me and now I seek to do the same for my students. To teach is to touch a child's life forever – There is no obstacle you can’t overcome without a positive attitude and hard work. So, I will leave you with my universal motto that I instill every day with not only my own children, but all of my students as well….work hard and aim for the stars any goal is attainable if you just believe!
