I am excited to start my tenth year of teaching as an ESL teacher at Ronald Thornton Middle School. I am a product of FBISD, attending Palmer Elementary, Quail Valley Middle School and Elkins High School. I have always dreamed of coming back to where my education started. My goal is to create and deliver differentiated, rigorous and meaningful instruction through the Sheltered Workshop Methodology. I work every day to teach and connect with students the way I would want someone to do with my two kids, a girl that is nine years old and a boy that is five years old.
Throughout my years of service I have taught a diverse group of 6th, 7th and 8th grade learners in the the following capacities:ESL Newcomers & Intermediates, ESL ELA, and ESL Co-Teach, Gifted and Talented Reading and Research, Pre-AP ELA, and On-Level ELA
I have served on various committees in leadership roles including: ELA Team Leader, ELAR Co Chair, AVID Site Team Teacher, AVID Team College (district grant committee), ELAR Advance Placement Vertical Alignment Team (align AP cirrculum7-12), Softball Assistant Coach, INOVA Student Mentor, Learning Coach, WOW Teacher (technology school leader), CBAS (Campus Based Assessment System), Teaching and Learning Cohort, and the LPAC committee.
The accomplishments I am most proud of are becoming an AISD district model classroom for Reader’s Workshop, being nominated for Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years, opening two schools, and most importantly connecting with families and seeing my students find a love for learning.
I am excited to teach your children and look forward to an amazing year of growth!
