Miss Donna Pierce

Hello, my name is Donna Pierce. As a teacher here at Fort Settlement Middle School, my goal is to instill the wonderful world of art into each of my students, to help students discover the creative spirit within each of them, and to guide them on their way to express their own personal journey.

I have been teaching art to students since 1994. All the years of teaching experience have been at the middle school level. I enjoy working with middle school students and seeing their maturity and growth especially in the art studio. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Art from Pace University in Pleasantville, New York. I received my teacher certification K-12, Art, and Master's degree in Art Education from University of Houston. I have had the wonderful experience to also receive certification in Pre-Advanced Placement in Studio Art from Rice University, to help students prepare a portfolio for advancing to Drawing II in high school. I have been the recipient of the National Endowment for the Humanities "Picturing America" initiative, where masterpieces of American Art are introduced into the classroom for students to gain a deeper appreciation of our country's history and character through the study and understanding of its art.

My love of art began at a very early age, and I was fortunate in high school to take an art class in metalsmithing. This is where I found the medium that I personally enjoy working with. I also enjoy watercolor and any other medium where attention to detail and craftsmanship are present. I am passionate about the world of art and its ever expanding horizon and feel honored to share this with my students.
