The primary role of the parent educator is to increase parental involvement, serve as a resource to parents in efforts of ensuring the academic success of their child, and assist in alleviating barriers specific to the parent (ESL, Family Stories Program, English Language Learners/ELL).  In addition, parent educators keep parents informed and help to promote proactive school/parent dialogue.  Collaborative learning is encouraged at home through programs such as FRED (Families Reading Everyday), HIS (Heroes In School) and XCLR8 (5th Grade Transitioning Activities).  Lastly, the parent educator creates opportunities for community partnerships and the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) by offering family enrichment events.
