I, Viva Cotton a native Houstonian; the third of eight children. I was blessed to have been raised by both my parents. My momma is the youthful age 81, and my daddy transition to his eternal home last year at the young age of 87. Love you, daddy!
I'm a proud scholar of the Houston Independent School District where I attended Blackshear Elementary, Cullen Junior High, and Ross Shaw Sterling High School. My collegiate years were spent at San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, and College of Biblical Studies where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Studies & Leadership. I continued my educational endeavors by graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Prairie View A & M University.
I serve in numerous areas of ministry: Minister of TPFM; Director of Ministers; Facilitator of Discipleship 101; Teacher of Generation U-Turn, Intercessory Prayer Team; Teacher of The Colonnades Senior Facility and The Naomi Hilliard Scholarship & Education Ministry. As a missionary, the ministry has taken me across the US, Jamaica, Bahamas, Houndras, and Kenya, Africa.
The love of my life, my high school sweetheart, Reginald; we were married thirty-eight years, until his death April 9, 2012. I am the proud mother of two sons, and known as "Nana" by three very active grandchildren.
My profession as a educator began with Fort Bend ISD (12 years) and Alief ISD (3 years). My career in education began as a Substitute Teacher, Para-Educator, and Teacher. My areas of instructions are Life Skills, ELA, FLITe, and BSS formerly known as BIC. Other work experience is comprised of various professions which includes Realtor, and Certified Driver Education Instructor/ Owner. Masters Driving Academy.
In my spare time, I love reading, listening to music, and relaxing at the beach. Don't be surprised, if you pass me on the road and highway on my Harley Davidson Softtail Deluxe motorcycle.
It is my desire to be a blessing to the Body of Christ and others; as God ordianed me to be. Loving the Lord with all my heart and holding steadfast to His Word. My favorite scriptures are Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:11, Psalms 1, Psalms 23, and I Corinthians 15:57-58.* But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
