Coach McClanahan is in his 27th year of education, the last 22 years have been in Fort Bend ISD. Coach McClanahan received his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics degree from the University of Texas in 1989. He received his M.B.A. from the UH-Victoria in 2000. He is the CTE department head and currently teaches business and finance courses at Ridge Point but has been known to fill in as a math teacher when needed. In addition to his teaching assignments he coaches softball. Coach McClanahan’s team won the state and national championship in 2004 with a 39-0 record while he was at Elkins High School. The winning ways continued in 2005 while his team compiled a 76-1 record over those two years winning 76 in a row. That record stands as the longest winning streak by a high school team in the state of Texas and fourth nationally. His overall record entering 2017 puts him in the top 5 for all time wins by high school coaches in the state of Texas. In 2015, Coach McClanahan and his Panther softball team became the first team sport at Ridge Point High School to reach the state tournament. Coach McClanahan’s wife, Alena, is an administrator in FBISD (LVE) and all three of his children attend or graduated from FBISD schools: Hayden – RPHS (class of 2014), Ryan – RPHS and Kaylee – BMS.
