Hello! My name is Gail "Brook" Aurand, and I have been teaching Theater for 29 years. I was born and raised in Orange, Texas, and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching in Theater Education. I taught at Dulles High School from 91-99, and then moved back to South East Texas and taught at Nederland High School and Port Neches-Groves High School. I am happy to be back in FBISD for my seventh year, here at Ridge Point.
I have been very actively involved and very successful in UIL One Act Play (District, Area, Regional, and State level), UIL Prose and Poetry (District, Regional, State Level), Texas Thespians, Texas Thespian Adult Advisory Board, Regional Advisory Committee for 4A Prose and Poetry, and have been very active with the Orange Community Players (Board of Directors, and Actress). I have received South East Texas Arts Councils Heart for the Arts Educator of the Year and Sam Houston State Drama Department Alumni Theater Educator of the Year. I have also worked professionally with the Orange Service League as the Co-Director of the OSL Follies.
Ridge Point High School has a large Theater Department, and produces 3-5 full scale productions a year, including a Muscial and UIL One Act Play. In addition, we have a very active Thespian Troupe (Troupe 7678), and attend the annual Texas Thespian Festival each year. The RPHS Theater Department also participates in 1-2 Community Service Projects a year.
