This is my 22nd year of teaching English. In 2010, it was an honor to open Ridge Point High School and watch our community grown and support our Panther Family. I taught for 11 years at Clements High School in Fort Bend ISD before joining the staff at Ridge Point. For 21 years, I taught freshman level English, and I love guiding my students through the transition from middle school to high school. I believe laying the foundation for learning and life is an integral part of teaching. Teaching is my passion, I believe my students need to be able to connect literature to life. I am happy to lead them on that journey.
I believe learning takes place in and out of the classroom. My love for literature, reading, and life all contribute to the climate of my classroom. I want my students to learn the gifts of reading and writing and become life-long learners. My purpose is to guide them through their freshman year. I look forward to setting goals with my students and helping them achieve their goals. My job as a teacher doesn't end when a student leaves my classroom. I feel my role as a teacher is to mentor my students to become strong citizens and young adults. I look forward to teaching this year and learning as much from my students as they learn from me. I know technology can be frustrating and demanding, but I believe we can navigate this learning space together.
I have my teaching certificate from the University of Houston. I earned my master's degree in Education Counseling from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 1995. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas with a minor in Counseling in 1992. I look forward to working with you this school year.
