Mrs. Victoria "Vickie" McMillen

Biography
I've taught English I (all levels) since 1999.  In 2010, it was an honor to open Ridge Point High School and watch our community grow and support our Panther Family.  I taught for 11 years at Clements High School in Fort Bend ISD before joining the staff at Ridge Point.  I love teaching freshmen English and guiding my students through the transition from middle school to high school.  Laying the foundation for learning and life is an integral part of teaching.  Teaching is my passion. I believe my students need to be able to connect literature to life, and I am happy to lead them on this journey.

I believe learning takes place in and out of the classroom.  My love for literature, reading, and life all contribute to the climate of my classroom.  I want my students to understand what gifts reading and writing contain as they become life-long learners.  My purpose is to guide them through their freshmen year.  I look forward to setting goals with my students and helping them achieve their goals.  My job as a teacher doesn't end when a student leaves my classroom.  I feel my role as a teacher is to mentor my students to become strong young adults. I look forward to teaching this year and learning as much from my students as they learn from me.  I know technology can be frustrating and demanding, but I believe we can navigate this learning space together.

I have my teaching certificate from the University of Houston. I earned my Master's of Science degree in Counseling from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 1995. I earned my Bachelor's of Art degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas with a minor in Counseling in 1992.  I look forward to working with you this school year.
