¡Hola! My name is Milka Carrasquillo. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, in a city south of San Juan. I graduated from la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. After graduation, I was accepted into the Spanish Journalism Master’s program at Florida International University.
While studying in Miami, I started working in Telemundo, the second largest Spanish speaking network. I moved to the Houston area in 2005 and started working for Univision, the leading Spanish network, as an online editor, writing news articles and features. Wanting to have a positive impact on people’s lives, I decided to become a Spanish teacher. I teach my passion: language.
This will be my seventh year at Ridge Point High School. This year I will teach Spanish III Pre-AP and will be co-sponsoring the Spanish National Honor Society. I live in Sugar Land with my two boys, Diego (11) and Daniel (7).
