Bush Sports Medicine Department
Bush Sports Medicine exists as a support organization aiding in the utmost professional rendering of health care and counseling to the athletes who represent George Bush High School. The program prefers to be identified as Bush Sports Medicine and not Bush Athletic Training. Although the core of the group gets its inner strength from the staff and student athletic trainer aides, the organization exists on a larger scale as members of a larger sports medicine team that includes physicians, administrators, all FBISD Athletic Trainers provide much needed support.
Care of the Bush Sports Medicine encompasses a wide scope of responsibilities that can be broken down but not completely limited to five main categories with several branches falling under each one. The Bush Sports Medicine Team also functions to educate and prepare high school students to move on to the next level in the medical field and ultimately become allied health care professionals. Education of the student athletic trainer aides involves day to day experiences in the athletic training room and on the Bush athletic fields. The Sports Medicine Department provides various opportunities and information for various healthcare professions. Student athletic trainer aides get hands on experience under the guidance of a certified and licensed athletic trainer.
The George Bush High School Sports Medicine Department is dedicated to providing quality medical care to student athletes, coaches, and staff. Services can be broken down into these primary categories:
• Injury Prevention
• Recognition and Management of Athletic Injury
• Rehabilitation of Athletic Injury
• Emergency Medical Care
