Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor of Arts in History Secondary Education from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Jan Robertson

I was born in Ohio. I am a graduate of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, with a Bachelor's degree in History Secondary Education. I have lived in Texas since 1988. I taught for four years at Cummings Junior High in Brownsville; ten years at Los Fresnos High School, Los Fresnos, Texas, and just finished my nineteenth year at Bush. I have taught World Geography, World History, U.S. history, and Government. Most of my experience has been with U.S. history and Advanced Placement U.S. History. In August, I will be starting my 33rd year of teaching and 27th year of APUSH. I love to travel and usually end up someplace historical to add to my bank of knowledge. I love people and love talking to them about their personal stories which I bring into my classroom. My passion for teaching is stronger now than it was 33 years ago.

In 2000, I received the Teacher of the Year Award from Los Fresno High School. At George Bush High, I was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year honor again in 2004.

In 2006 the Anti-Defamation League honored me with the Walter Kase Award for Teacher Excellence in Holocaust Education. In 2008 I had the priviledge to travel to Germany and Poland to study the Holocaust. That November, the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous in New York City bestowed upon me the Robert I. Goldman Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education. That will probably be the only time I will ever be in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

I have coached many sports. Currently I am the Head Girls Soccer ccoach.
