I am Ira Lynn Lewis, English teacher. I have been in the education field for over twenty years. I hold a degree in English with a minor in Journalism from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Also, I have a degree in Counseling and Testing from Prairie View A & M University. Currently, I am taking courses for Licensed Practicing Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
As a teacher and counselor, I often try to motivate my students to look for and utilize their inner strengths and imagination. I aim to provide an environment that encourages hard work, trust and confidence. I want students to realize their voice and opinions in order to find their highest potential.
Through my years of experience, I have found that students learn and retain knowledge when they are the constructors of their learning experience. I constantly try to promote and implement this method in my interactions with students. I want students to not only learn for the moment but apply that learning in future situations.
