Mrs. Gwendolyn Tate-Smith

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Xavier University, a Master’s Degree in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition and 30 hours above the Master’s in Education. I have taught at 16 schools and 4 universities.
 
I have served as Department Chairperson at G.W. Carver Senior High School and J.F. Kennedy Senior High School. I was the High School English Specialist for the New Orleans Public Schools District. I have served as a reader for Hartcourt Brace and Jovanovich (HBJ), the former textbook company that is now a part of Holt McDougal. I served on the selection committee for the textbook adoption in New Orleans and in Fort Bend School Districts.
 
I have taught writing in the Upward Bound Program for Dillard and Xavier Universities and wrote the Writing Component for the Super Scholar Excel Program at Xavier University where I taught rising seniors and college freshmen for 9 years.
 
I have taught Rhetoric and Composition to freshmen classes at Delgado, Dillard, Southern University and Xavier.
