Mr. Wai (William) Chan
Growing up in Hong Kong for the first 16 years of my life, I was privileged to enjoy both Eastern and Western education style. I finished my final two years of high school in Syracuse, New York. I, then, moved to Austin, Texas for my college education. I am a proud graduate of the UTeach program at the University of Texas at Austin. It is my goal to learn the best practices in education and apply them to my students.
I have been working at Clements High School since 2008. I taught chemistry (both advanced and pre-AP level) in the first three years. Beginning 2010, I have been teaching AP Environmental Science. I love teaching this course because it allows students to be more aware of the surrounding environment and make intricate connections between different scientific domains. Throughout the course, students will learn more about essential skills that will prepare them for future challenges in college and future career.
Educational Interests: Effect of metacognitive thinking in science education, optimal experience in education, inquiry-based learning, digital learning resources, professional development for science teachers.
